What is a fujoshi?
‘fujoshi’ is a pejorative term given to females who are interested in homosexual themes between men. (And sometimes between women as well, but not always.) It means ‘rotten woman’. But like with many other pejorative terms, it has been reclaimed with a sense of pride. The male version is ‘fudanshi’.

What is bl/yaoi?
BL, or ‘Boy’s Love’, is a genre of media centered around homosexual attraction between males yet is created by and for a female fanbase. When I use the phrase on my blog, I am referring mostly to the Japanese comic genre.

Why don’t you tag as ‘yaoi’?
I tag to make my blog more user-friendly for the people who already follow it—I don’t have much interest in tagging my posts in hopes that someone searching through a tag will stumble across it. I’d feel admittedly silly tagging every single thing I post with the same thing over and over.

Are you male?
I am female, actually.

Do your parents know about your interest?
they know I like comics and they know that I am an advocate for gay rights, but I don’t really specifically go on and on about all the porn I have stashed in my room, no.

Do you know Japanese?
only about upper-intermediate level—I can read it fairly well but I can’t speak it for shit.

Do you live in Japan?
nope I reside in the mid-western United States.

Where do you download your manga?
I don’t really download manga so much anymore since most of it is uploaded in Chinese these days and I can’t read Chinese. But I used to download from Aarin Fantasy and various LJ comms. As for scanlations, I generally go right to the source and download from the scanlator. If you aren’t sure which scanlator released a certain title, Manga Updates is very helpful!

Where do you buy your manga?
I mostly buy bulk orders off Amazon Japan since that’s the only store that has every release I want all available in the same place. I don’t personally recommend them, since their shipping is incredibly expensive. For places that might suit your needs better (CHEAPER SHIPPING), I have a list of other stores here on my separate blog.

Where can I download _______ ?!
please don’t ask me this question. Like I said earlier, I don’t really download things anymore. If something isn’t English-translated, I probably scanned the panel myself from my own book—scans of the entire chapter or book likely do not exist, and if they do I won’t know where to find them. I don’t mind questions on which books certain stories are from, and questions on artists if you can’t find anything after google’ing, but please just do not ask me where to download things because you will always get the same answer: “sorry, but I don’t know.”

How do you handle asks?
depends on my mood—sometimes I answer them one at a time if they particularly interest me and I want to answer quickly, and sometimes I let them build up to around fifteen or so and answer them all at once. I try to answer every ask I get—it bothers me to ignore ot delete them. The only ones I have a tendency to delete are the “where can I download” questions when I’m in a bad mood.

How long have you liked BL?
pretty much since I hit puberty because I was a bad child who looked at internet porn at an early age (weren’t we all though?), but it wasn’t until about five years ago that I fell truly in love with the genre as a whole.

Who is the artist of your user image?
my user image is taken from the cover of Aniya Yuiji’s Shisei no Otoko. Very good book—highly recommended.

Who is the artist from your sidebar image?
the artist is Junko, and it’s from her series Kimi Note! Also highly recommended.

How often is this blog updated?
whenever I feel like it or actually have something to post, unfortunately. It used to be updated much more often, but recently I’ve run out of the huge wealth of new stuff to read so usually I only have new content when new books arrive in the mail. I try to update it as much as I can though!

Do you have a list of all the manga you’ve read?
I don’t really have one perfect complete list anywhere, but I do have a MyAnimeList and a MangaUpdates profile and a Dokusho Meter and a list of the BL I already own. All those together should give you a vague idea of what I’ve read over the years.
